About Me

I was born and raised in Hawaii. I obtained a Bachelor degree in Psychology from the University of Hawaii, and a Master of Counseling degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Phoenix. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and Certified Sex Addiction Therapist.

I have worked in the faith-based and social services field since 1996. I have provided counseling for churches, schools, agencies, and state programs. In addition, I had been in non-profit management and developed/directed programs within the state. I specialize in working with children and adolescents who have experienced trauma, and am nationally certified in an evidence-based treatment model called Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

I have provided trainings at state and national levels. I have also done work in the media, and have been interviewed on the Hawaii News Now Sunrise show as well as had radio spots focused on parenting. Some of the state and national organizations that I have provided trainings for include:

I have been an active member and leader within the Grace Bible Church-Every Nation Ministries since 1995. I currently serve on the church council and facilitate a bible study group.

I am an affiliate member of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN), and the co-chair for the Domestic Violence Collaborative Working Group. I am also a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy-Hawaii Chapter (AAMFT-HI). I also recently became a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist – Supervisor.

My goal in counseling is to help individuals overcome their challenges and pain, discover meaning out of their circumstances, and attain mental, emotional, and spiritual wholeness.
